The Tour of Britain professional cycle race has been visiting Scotland since 2005, with the country becoming synonymous with some of the most attractive countryside seen anywhere on the route. In 2011 participants in The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride will have the opportunity for the first time to take on the challenge of the Scottish stage of The Tour of Britain, riding through the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.

Beginning in the Scottish Borders at Peebles the full stage distance of 170km will be tackled by riders in the Pro Ride, while the Challenge Ride allows riders to enjoy the final 70km of Stage One of the 2011 Tour of Britain, starting and finishing in Dumfries, capital of the Dumfries and Galloway region.
